Huricane Emily - July 20, 2005

Report from Bill Gaffey Wednesday July 20th
Emily made main-land Mexico at 5:00 am with 125 mph winds, just 65 miles south of Brownville. We got our
first down pour at 4:30 am which over flowed our streets. They started the pump right away. The city of
Pharr has brought in another pump so we have two pumps working. We will continue to have high winds
and almost continous rain all day with rain probably continueing into tonight and tomorow on an intermittent
basis. We havn't lost power, yet, and are hoping the pumps can keep up. No wind damage here but there has
been East of here along with some power outages.

I arrived back at Texas Trails Thursday night July 21st. Things were very quiet at that time. I have
been told that we had between 4 and 5 inches of rain and the winds got upto about 45 miles per hour.
I walked around the resort on Friday morning. A few trees and some plants were blown over. Some debris
was blown around. The main damage I saw was that the power had been out to the Friendship Hall and was told
that power was also out to the RV section of the resort. The mobile home section had power. The other
was that the manhole cover at Trails End and Dove Lane had dropped into the earth. If you see the above picture
of the water, well, the manhole cover is under the water in the middle.

The biggest damage was to the abandoned gas station on Suger across the street from the Lonesome Dove building
